Metrofashion Spring 2000 - Trend: Chic
In spite of the fantastic Michael Kors Spring 2000 metro line, we chose Oscar de la Renta's Spring 2000 collection of elegant chic as the illustration sketch for the trend "chic". .. .. In particular, the design chosen (sketch image to the right) embodies the best of Spring 2000 without crossing the line of good taste. The fabric is fluid and fitting, the colors are warm and complimentary, and the fine pointelle designs at the skirt bottom reflect the fancy nature of Spring 2000 without drawing attention from the whole. .. .. Oscar de la Renta Spring 2000 is a beautiful collection, similar to Bill Blass, with more flair and focus. del la Renta consistently emphasizes the center of the woman, the abdomen, the source of her power. He notes it finely with matching tops and bottoms where the top pivots with the slightest folds. He frames the center by designing most pieces to have similar length above and below the abdomen. And most of all, he entices the viewer's eye to the center by eliminating distracting attachments in other places. Start with the center and work outward to the details... .. Nevertheless, the chic is definitely there - silhouetted, simple, and flattering. One of the most dramatic designs in the collection, a black peacock with white embroidered silk top, retains the balance through the attachment of a white applique in front; even in drama, de la Renta maintains the pure. That's why we gave the nod to this piece as the sketch for the trend "chic."
