TV Stylists Dress
Up Mens Fashions The Fab Five of the 21st century are Kyan Douglas, Grooming Guru, Ted Allen, Food and Wine Connoisseur, Carson Kressley, Fashion Savant, Jai Rodriguez, Culture Vulture, and Thom Filicia, Design Doctor, from the hit show "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy". They exhibit a refreshing stance on straight men's fashion, or lack thereof. When desperate housewives or fiancées ship off their clueless husbands and boyfriends to the Queer Eye stylists, the men are often bedraggled and disheveled. Contrary to the perceived norm, they are also very willing and ready to transform their physical appearances. The cast and crewmembers help the hapless with events like marriage proposals, class reunions, and home makeovers, and personal makeovers. Men's clothes become vibrant and spontaneous in the hands of Queer Eye cast, as they take turns mugging shamelessly and strutting for the camera cameos. Men's hairstyles, men's makeup, and men's wardrobes are passionately discussed over apple martinis and foie gras. Fashion terms like "nautical sailor meets mid-town mama's boy" and "men's island chic for the polo jet-set" are bandied around the various boutiques and hair salons as the boys make up the their latest metrosexual male. An important part of every Queer Eye for the Straight Guy episode is learning about men's daily skincare regime, set to the Queer Eye music soundtrack. With freshly shaven facial hair and coifed hairstyles, the final products are straight guys with a better appreciation of men's style. The TV show spin-off Queer Eye for the Straight Girl aims to do the same for women. |
