August 2000: Metrofashion Fall 2000 Preview
Showing off is back in style for the Fall 2000 fashion season. Makes sense - Spring 2000 was "Elegant and Pretty" and released designers from the minimalistic 1990s female interpretation. Now Fall is upon us and everyone is excited to show off their glamourous fabrics, patterns, and details. Metrofashion.com Fall 2000 will be a huge issue with everything you need to get in step with the dazzling Fall and Winter 2000-2001 season. Here is a preview...

Fall Fashion - click here for searchDesigns in lilac highlight the Fall 2000 runway fashions. Shades of purple show up in skirts, dresses, blouses, evening wear, and accessories.

Very feminine and very mod, lilac designs accentuate the curves of the female form and provide a dramatic presentation to the deep necklines that are also showing up this season. Shown here from the Los Angeles Fashion Week is the Fall 2000 season premier, with peices from Bryan Emerson, Status, Canvasbacks, XYLA, and many more.

search for BCBG fashion and othersSophisticated pattern/fabric combinations showed up on the New York catwalks in February, as designers unvieled one of the most eclectic fashion seasons ever -bold, opulent, satin, embroderies, and geometric prints reminiscent of the 20s, 50s, and 80s, and city chic reflecting the austere 40s.

The message is excitement about the bountiful fashion foundation of the 20th century mixed with the inspiration of new fabrics and a new metro chic for the year 2001 and beyond. This image taken from the BCBG runway, highlighting one of the bold Fall 2000 trends of burnt red colors on summer designs paired with a lush velvet full-length winter overcoat.

business dress and careerwear - search for suitsSleek careerwear. Fall is always time to dress up, and career wear sees an immediate impact. Business dressing for women has come along way with help from the "power" looks of the 1990s. Fall 2000 fashion sees womenswear designs taking on male components. Slim cuts, oversized shoulders simply for masculine form, and tailored fits give the Y2000 woman an impressive presence at the corporate table.

Matched with options for flair like fur scarves and newsprint-design handbags, Fall 2000 is the first season to give women feminine choices for projecting their new exceutive roles. Shown here with a film negative prop in the background, this two-peice design sets the pace for the Fall 2000 business dress season.

80s fashion - click hereDazzling details... Fall 200 is nothing if not dazzling - jeweled metal belts, glimmering satin jackets, and upgraded punk diagonal zippers give any fashionista the tools to express their party personality. And it's all in style - Fall 2000 fashion is extremely flexible, the only look not recommended is practicality.

Gloss it up and show it off - that's the theme and Fall designers are sticking to it. If fancy Gucci and Gaultier doesn't surprize you, then maybe a punkish Armani with street-sense will. Looking for respite - check out the Calvin Klein and Jil Sander collections. Otherwise, the rockin' spirit of the 80s is back! Images from the 70s and 80s fashion show at Polly Ester's Culture Club in San Francisco.

There you have it - Fall 2000 Fashion will hit the stores in September and you'll find all the highlights here on Metrofashion.com, including the best search engine, fashion sketches, and trends roundup on the Web. So check back soon! Go back to Homepage...

(Oscars after-party) "..Denise Richards glistened in a glass beaded pantsuit with a halter top."
Shaune Bagwell - Notes from the Party...
In Style Magazine's Elton John Aids Foundation Party At Pagani
©Shaune Bagwell - Sir Elton John knows how to throw a most devine soiree. Complete with a raffle for a brand new Lexus and a ten thousand dollar Neiman Marcus shopping spree, no expense was spared. The two party goers that guessed all the Oscar winners correctly received diamond-encrusted watches, and as the evening wound down, everyone was given a one thousand dollar goody bag as a parting gift.

During some of the more mundane moments of the night, I found myself standing next to Fran Drescher in the ladies room. As we waited in line, I couldn't help but ask her who had designed her dress. In a very gracious way, she told me it was a Marc Bouwer.

Elizabeth Hurley was brilliant in an emerald green chiffon confection. While I didn't get to ask her who had designed her dress, I think it is safe to assume it was Versace. I wonder if her loyalty to the designer is due to the untimely death of her friend Gianni, or if it is because the clothes are just so darn fabulous.

Jenny McCarthy was a fashion disaster in my opinion. Her dress was dowdy, and her hair style was sloppy. Who in the world advised her to go brunette? Eeeek! She is such a sweet and beautiful girl, I sure hope that she returns to the style that made her a celebrity.

Denise Richards glistened in a glass beaded pantsuit with a halter top. Her hair was up in a simple ponytail high on her head, a la' I Dream of Jeanie. One of the few attendees in pants, she was one of the brightest stars of the evening.

I was absolutely stunned at seeing Farrah Fawcett in person for the first time. I was amazed at how beautiful she looked up close. While her dress was non-descript, I couldn't take my eyes off her skin and hair. She stood out in the crowd without the grandiosity of a flashy couture gown. She truly is one of the most radiant people I have ever seen.

Among all of the grandeur, it is easy to overlook the charitable aspect of the gathering. All proceeds of this bash go to the AIDS Foundation. I hope that Sir Elton John will always be remembered as the humanitarian that he is. He has given freely his time, money, and energy to millions of people in need. He is all too aware that when you throw a party and invite thousands of your friends and the press, money will pour in to help you fight a horrendous disease. We salute you Sir, for using your colossal stardom to help others...Well, for that, and for throwing arguably the year's best party!

Esther Canadas in DKNY street campaign from 1999DKNY at Macys: Macys Union Square, San Francisco, staged a major multimedia launch of DKNY's fragrance line. Appearing were supermodels and DKNY spokesmodels Mark Vanderloo and Esther Canadas. DKNY has taken a beating in the press of late, with slow reactions to fashion industry IPOs and the recent strike of DKNY by photographers at the New York Fall Shows, but this event marks a resurgence.
Store wars begin... By broadening the product line and refocusing the DKNY label on cutting-edge twenty-something glamour, the fashion house has sent a shot across the bow of rock glam marketer Tommy Hilfiger and basics wardrobe seller Banana Republic. DKNY has fired the first shot in the "2000 store wars" now that the buzz of the 2000 Spring and Fall runway shows is over.

Fall 2000 Collections: New York Fall 2000 Shows are complete and the message is "smart and dressy". From Marc Jacobs to Ralph Lauren, Fall 2000 looks are clean, cool, and dressed. Dresses and skirts are streamlined, form-fitting, and easy on the eyes (unlike much of the Spring 2000 concepts.) And delightfully metro. Jackets and suits are detailed and mono-colored. Even casual is formal, with plush corduroy replacing cute denim for weekend wear. Designers have created Year 2000 wardrobe showcase to outfit the closet for years to come. Three sites offer excellent snapshots of the events: Vogue New York Fall 2000 Shows, 7th on Sixth Fall 2000 NYC Shows, "Lifewise" Coverage of NYC Fall 2000 Shows on Canada Internet Explorer.

Michael Kors Fall 2000: Gold and silver are the colors of choice for Kors this year, and the shapes are deliciously form-fitting. On the runway, Kors shows brilliant walking silhouettes of shimering female curves, swaying back and forth while the fabrics wrap the body like liquid. The effect is glamourous and timeless. You can watch Michael Kors Fall 2000 runway show on CNN Video - click here.
