Nothing says Corey Lynn Calter like a certain olive anorak she showed for Fall Winter 2004. Impeccable tailoring and just the right below-the-knee length, with military overtones softened by a slight bagginess that nodded to the emerging hip hop culture, Calter's trench captured the unique flavor of West Coast high fashion without overshadowing her trademark feminine frocks.

The wonderful quaility of that peice was its singular compatibility with Calter's tricky mix of layered outfits and wrapped cocktail dresses. Worn with a sequin flapper, it disquised the midtown partier until the moment she unveiled; worn open with a wool vest and silk dot illusion skirt it peppered the companion with details to ponder and mysteries to pursue.

Showing at Los Angeles Fashion Week on an irregular schedule, Corey Lynn Calter has provided the aspiring fashion event with a bit of reliability, with the press aware that Calter's show will be ladylike and prim while elevating the West Coast look of swishy lux.
