Sue Wong Fall/Winter Collection
1920's Era Inspires Female Flights of Fantasy
Sue Wong's exotic harem girl and Andalusian gypsy represent eternal female archetypes
embodied in her spectacular Fall / Winter Collection from Mercedes Benz Fashion
Week at Smashbox Studios.
Sue Wong presents the Odalisque, a beautiful and exotic harem girl
who holds the prince captive with her allure, in the form of silk georgette, silk
devoré, and silk charmeuse evening dresses ready for the fall social season.
Her choice of color palette includes sienna, gold, copper, cinnebar, and jasper
for a distinctly opulent, arabian style.
Sue Wong Fall/Winter Nocture Collection plays off of the gypsy muse with Flamenco
gowns, plunging necklines, and layered ruffles. This muse was a literary figure
modeled after Zelda Fitzgerald, Colette, and the flapper icon. This look evokes
the classic Jazz Age with elongated dress torso, uneven hemlines, and that "improvised"
feel.
A strong element of fantasy informs the work of Sue Wong, magically transforming
the woman into a darkly elegant vamp or celestial angel, as her heart leads. Sue
Wong Fall/Winter Collection embodies this transformation. |

mon petit oiseau Spring 2004 Collection
Designer Tracy Wilkinson
brings the joys of urban edginess to casual spring summer looks Happy Spring... Perhaps
the joys of spring are best expressed by a smiling lass dressed in a flirty combination
of constructed bottoms and country tops, with a picnic dress thrown in for special
occasions. mon petit oiseau Spring 2004 puts a new spin on spring/summer adventure
by matching boyish fabric styling with neutral stripes and theme prints like chickadees.
The result is a bevy of coy models with subtle exposure and girlish gaits; the
perfect rhythm for summer escapes from the city.
Fashion designer Tracy Wilkinson of mon petit oiseau creates an urban look that
incorporates edgy details like silver eyelets on an overall strap chickadee mini-dress.
The upwardly cascading illustrative print leads directly to the casual overslung
straps for a more formal appeal. This theme of mixing casual and formal continues
in a herringbone knicker design matched with whimsy japanese floral top bordered
in lilac. "Push-pull" looks of classic menswear fabrics contrast with quirky carnival
colors throughout the Spring 2004 Collection from mon petit oiseau.
Of special note for this season, designer Tracy Wilkinson teamed up in October
to design men and women’s t-shirts for Artists for Amnesty project. A portion
of the funds raised were earmarked for the organization's international campaign
to end violence against women. Artists for Amnesty was held at La Boheme Restaurant
in West Hollywood. The "one-of-a-kind" tees were modeled by Brendan Fraser, Mia
Kirshner, Poppy Montgomery, and Jennifer Beals, with the event hosted by Academy
Award winning actress Mira Sorvino.
Joining in the festive Spring 2004 runway fun as sponsors for mon petit oiseau
were shoe designer Sigerson Morrison, with the launch of the affordable "Belle"
line of flats, pumps, and strappys, and Tarte Cosmetics, by creator Maureen Kelly.
Celebrity hair stylist Laurent D of Prive Salon in LA provided the feminine cuts
to compliment Wilkinson's signature spring looks. mon petit oiseau Spring 2004
Collection presented at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Los Angeles, October 29-November
2, 2003.
