Summer Funk
San
Francisco Styles Show Jazzy Side
©2008 Metrofashion.com- Check out the styles at the Filmore Street
Jazz Festival and one gets the sense that San
Francisco fashion is all about the music, or what Pink Elf designer
Kaushie Adiseshan calls "easy glamour."
In a city that
thrives (some would say raves) on its indie
music scene, ranging from SoMa lounge to East Bay jazz, Pink
Elf joined a chorus of San Francisco Fashion Week Spring Summer
2008 designers whose looks complement the burgeoning Bay Area funk.
Pink Elf designer Adiseshan is a Bombay (Mumbai) designer who creates
expressive silk
print looks in sultry shapes. For the San Francisco vibe, she
chose summery colors like lilac,
champagne,
orange,
and sassafras
(seen everywhere in SF walking tours.)

From silky dreaminess to purveyors of the dream
world itself. San Francisco label Onerary
from designers Danielle DeRoberts and Katy Parnello shows functional
urban styles that explore the motifs
of dreams. Onerary is meant to "liberate the sense impressions"
and bring those internal emotives into street
fashions that create an intimacy among friends.
Signature Onerary looks include bucket hoodies with decorative flaps,
come-hither supergirl boyshorts,
jedi jackets inspired by the now-San Francisco-based George Lucas
film anthology, and montage shrugs with attitude. One of the Metrofashion
favorites is the curt A.N.D. empire ballerina
dress paired with a grandfather cloak.

We gotta work sometime, and Vian
Hunter makes it fabulous, West Coast style.
Fashion Designer Lisa Vian Hunter is an established fashion industry
player with pedigree from FIDM. Her 50s/60s-inspired daywear
line uses European fabrics and unique shaping to create a luxurious
get-busy silhouette without the New
York frankness. She makes the PR reps look good so they can make
the Internet nerdies look smart. |
