Fall Winter 2003/2004 Fashion- Button Up
Fall 2003 fashion showcases cool jackets and form-fitting party and eveningwear, with fancy panels and large buttons.

"We're outta here." Fall 2003 fashion proclaims the end of reflection and the time to suit up and go. Layers are in; updated jackets are substantial and detailed. Narciso Rodriquez shows slick black and white trenchcoats inspired by motocross looks; Trussardi goes the other way with rust and copper leather trenches with lace up fireman boots.

Both share the message of Fall 2003 fashion designers - the urban creature has mused long enough. Click for photos...

Not that she's any less female. Laura Biagiotti shows knit creations in cable white and dark blue that caress and comfort, with beading and trim in purple and olives. Emmanul Ungaro sends forth his tundra warriors with lilac impressions; Fendi presents space-age walking jackets with the illusion of polypropylene and the very real luxury of satin. ... more
Spring and Summer - Flouncing Around
Wrapped and ruffled, pleated and pale, beaded and bangled, Spring and Summer 2002 fashions invite the post-9/11 world-weary woman to chill out and let loose, what the Southerners call "flouncing around." The fabrics are chiffon-centered, feminine in nature, and luxurious with layering, while the cuts, shapes, and embellishments shout "watch me swish!".

Everything moves in Spring 2002, the skirts have plenty of bias themes and embellished borders and sink low on the waist to mirror recent pant trends, and the tops and dresses hang loose and have lots of texture, attachments, and whimsical artwork. In a sort of "new aquarious," stylish folk are revisiting watery themes of flow, splash, and flounce, making Spring and Summer 2002 the most expressive new millenium summer season yet. more...

Emmys 2000 Fashion - Red Rules!.. by Shaune Bagwell.. .. From crimson to claret, red was the color of choice at the 52nd Annual Emmy Awards. Everyone from newlywed Jennifer Aniston to the inimitable Stockard Channing to comedian Molly Shannon wrapped themselves in sumptuous ruby. .. .. Other notable stars that selected red were: Calista Flockhart in a high-necked, ruffled sheath; Debra Messing in Vera Wang; and Jean Smart in a look reminiscent of old Hollywood. My personal favorite, however, was the breathtakingly beautiful Rebecca Romjin-Stamos. Rebecca, however, is one of those people who could have shown up in red burlap and still stolen the show.

... her (Gina Davis') dress was so sheer that we got an anatomy lesson!

Fashion Losers... The exciting thing about awards shows are the soaring high points and the inevitable low points of the evening. Everyone looks forward to the seeing the fashion disasters that wind up on Mr. Blackwell's list and the memorable classics that are imitated throughout the coming year. Let's start with this years' lows: Sarah Jessica Parker in a pink, feathered Easter egg concoction. Sarah herself was radiant, why would such a beautiful, slender girl wear something that hid her figure so? And then there's the matter of the feathers... never mind.
Gina Davis at first glance was fabulous. As I looked a little closer, I realized her dress was a bit sheer. So sheer, in fact, that we got an anatomy lesson! I often wonder what actresses were thinking when they attempt the nearly naked look. Didn't they check the mirror? Did their stylist not tell them everything was showing? Perhaps the obvious reason is to revive their careers and everyone will write about them on the Internet...who knows?!

Fashion Winners! In the showstopper-jawdropper category, Heather Locklear and Halle Berry were the hands down winners. Heather selected a white pin-pleated Richard Tyler gown with a train, while Halle Berry looked every inch a princess in a black tulle ball gown. After reviewing the fashions at this year's Emmys, I am more excited than ever to see the fashions at next year's Oscars. I can hardly wait for spring! .. .. Who knows what we may see...I know what we won't be seeing...red.
