| Prom 2001, Long is Strong! by Shaune Bagwell.. .. .. It's not too early to start thinking prom, and with online shopping available at many vendors, this year, it's easier than ever! After last year's minis and knee-length looks in muted tones and pastels, this year's collection is ultra refreshing.Almost every designer has featured looks that are a throwback to old Hollywood. Strong in all collections are jewel brights, beadwork, open midriffs, rhinestones, tulle, and pailettes (think oversized sequins that look like fish scales)... .. Tiffany Designs - beaded ball gown design One of my personal favorites is a royal blue ball gown with a beaded bodice, and a full tulle skirt by Tiffany Designs. A look truly fit for a princess! Also beautiful, brilliant red and green fitted long dresses with ornate beadwork. Magnifique! (www.tiffanydesigns.com) | | | | Jessica McClintock - two-piece with organza design.. Another must see, Jessica McClintock's bright orange two piece with an organza apron. (www.jessicamcclintock.com) | | Precious Formals - feminine and elegant designs.. Precious Formals has one of the largest and most diverse collections available. All looks are very feminine and elegant, with some two piece creations, and some very classy pant suits. Pants are a hot alternative look, but only with a flared cut to the leg, and when worn all the way to the floor. (www.preciousformals.com) | | | | "This year's collections have a more grown-up, glamorous, and formal feel..." | | | | | | Scala USA - jewel tones designs.. Scala has a unique selection of vibrant jewel tones; tangerine, bright violet, lemon yellow, and fuschia. Also lovely, sequined and bugle-beaded column dresses in navy and black. (www.scalausa.com).. .. More!! For unusual styles and patterns, Je' Matadi showed beaded animal prints, sky-high slits, and dresses with cut out backs. (www.jematadi.com) As for collections with the most sparkle, my choices would be Cassandra Stone (www.cassandrastone.com), Panoply (www.panoplydesign.com), Alyce Designs (available at select retailers), Attitudes by Debra (www.gownsdressesandmore.com), and Fashion 1001 Nights (www.fashion1001nights.com). As I reviewed all prom looks for 2001, I was amazed at how vastly different the looks were from last year. This year's collections have a more grown-up, glamorous, and formal feel.
