Spring 2000 - Elegant and Pretty |
Spring 2000 is ablaze with fresh designs! From Anna Molinari to Randolph
Duke, Spring 2000 buds
appeared on the September runways in New York, London, Paris, and Milan,
and has blossomed
into the media in March.
Let's dive in!

new, chic way of dressing, that offers ladylike looks that are sophisticated
and pretty." (photographs ©2000 Andres Aquino, fashionshowroom.com)
So it's fitting that Bill
Blass' final spring collection would offer signature pieces exemplifying
and inspiring the best of Spring 2000. In the spirit of the runways, let's
take a walk through Spring 2000 seen from the perspective of Bill Blass'
contribution.
First, there is pretty.
We're talking sheers,
prints, florals, spots, and anything geometric,
situated on flowing single garment dresses or shirtdresses, and worked meticulously
into contrasting top/bottom combinations.

For example, Bagley
Mischka presents a rich group of sparkling, sequined
chiffon dresses with romantic, serene colors. Mischka's works accentuate
the statuesque, structured female form of today, while preserving the tenderness
of 1970s'
designs using light
fabrics. The dresses lovingly hug the modern
woman's curves, bringing back the
feminine appeal that was lost during the minimalistic late 1990s .
So one interpretation of pretty is colorful and patterned.
Another is decorative. There's frills,
ruffles ,
and pointelle. Nicolle
Miller presents blouses that hang on the shoulders with punkish style
while sporting starburst patterns for electricity, mixing attitudes from
the 1960s
and 1990s
to form a new girlish flair. You can see similar themes in the colections
of Girls
Rule, Balmain,
and Georgio
Armani.
