Fashion Trends Fall Winter 2005/2006
Neutral shades with vibrant graphic prints, geeks, and jet-set whites
As fall leads into a wintery January fashion season, the runway trends for early 2006 incorporate a somewhat restrained color palatte as befitting the season. Neutral shades range from light bone to rose hued nudes.

Versace and Dries Van Noten both show a delicious range of toned down creams and beige in their collections. Large format patterns are big for fall and winter this year in an assortment of watery oversized florals to 1980's vibrant graphic prints, as befitting designers Strenesse, Tuleh, and Chado Ralph Rucci.

Lace in all forms takes center stage, kept simple and modern in white, ivory, and blush. The most notable fashion houses flirting with lace dresses are Michael Kors, Anna Sui, and Derek Lam, in sweet knee, tea, and floor-length numbers.

Of course the geek theme continues strong into the new year, with the preppy jet-set finding such staples as color-blocked t-shirts and chinos in bright hues and clean whites. Tommy Hilfiger, Lacoste, and Cacharel turned up the color markers with orange and green bermuda knee length shorts and striped polo shirts.

Black is the number one staple for the season and will remain so well into 2006. Bright black looks from Lanvin, Alexander McQueen, and Martin Grant all showcase the blustery raven theme in tailored suits, asymmetric tops, and frothy evening gowns.
